Law Graduate Who Was Denied Call To Bar, Finally Called To Bar, Wearing A Small Covering Over Her Hair

Firdaus Amasa, the Nigerian law graduate from the University of Illorin who made news last year December after the Nigerian law school refused to call her to bar because she was wearing a Hijab, was finally allowed to take part in the Call to bar ceremony wearing a small covering over her hair
After much deliberations, the Body of Benchers decided to allow her wear a small covering over her hair just the way Honourable Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, does.
The case attracted attention on social media, with Nigerians divided on her decision and that of the authorities of the law school.

7months ago when interviewed Firdaus said in quote: I am ready to fight to the end. The Law School has not said anything on the case, adding that the support from the Muslim community has been impressive.
“My demand is that Hijab should be approved”.

Amasa was specifically denied entrance into the International Conference Centre, Abuja on December 12, 2017, where the call to bar programme was to take place for refusing to remove her hijab.
The Body of Benchers and Nigerian Law School her hijab broke their dress codes and was not call to bar.
The University of Ilorin law graduate who objected against removing her hijab, which she claimed was an infringement on her human right was denied from being inducted as a barrister with her other colleagues.
7months later ...Amasa -I am proud to have stood on the side of honour in her case. I am proud that I don’t bay with the mob or run with the herd. The truth will always prevail.”
