NDDC Project in Ondo State

Great succour has finally came to the people of Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State as state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko flagged off the construction of the n19.4 billion Ugbo/Oghoye road, a 21.5 kilometre road awarded by the Niger delta development commission [NDDC] that will link the area with other parts of the state.


Residents of Eagle Island one of the host communities to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company in Port Harcourt, Rivers State have expressed gratitude to the Niger Delta Development Commission over the rehabilitation of the Mgbuoshimini – Agip – Eagle Island road. Eagle Island, a fast developing suburb of Port Harcourt also hosts the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Speaking to newsmen when officials of NDDC undertook a tour of the road project, spokesman for the community, comrade Akike Aprila lamented that the over 500,000 in habitants of the island had remained completely cut off from the outside until NDDC’s intervention. “We cannot thank NDDC enough, they have wiped our tears” he said.
Comrade Aprila who commended the expertise and seriousness of the contracting firm assured that the people will assist in every way possible to ensure that the project was delivered in good time. The NDDC Managing Director, Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha expressed delight with the extent of work done on the project. Ugwoha particularly commended the contractor for doing so much without mobilization, adding “if they continue this way, we will be glad to work with them”. 
On why the commission embarked upon the project Mr. Ugwoha said, “we saw the hardship being faced by the residents of the area and therefore called in the contractor”. He assured that the commission’s engineers and the contractors will meet to find solution to some challenges facing the project.
Briefing the Managing Director on the project, the site Engineer, Francis Iweiku said work commenced on the 2.5km road three month ago.
