The Late 5: Finally, Buhari signs N30,000 minimum wage bill into law; I’ll not fail Nigerians – Buhari assures Bill Gates


Finally, Buhari has signed the new minimum wage bill into law, after a protracted debate between the government and labour unions. According to what the bill represents, the new minimum wage of 30,000 will usher in a new pay structure for Nigerian workers. State governors had opposed the N30,000 minimum wage with many of them saying they will be unable to pay their workers N30,000 minimum wage.  Mr Buhari’s aide on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, told journalists that the president has signed the minimum wage bill into law.
Also, new circulating earlier on Thursday is the alleged phone call between Buhari and billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates. Buhari commended Bill Gates for his consistency and generous support to public cause across the globe, while Gates also congratulated Buhari on his re-election as Nigeria’s president.
