COVID-19 : How Banks And Churches Could Have Helped.

With the present situation of Nigeria and the whole world at large, it is no longer news but mandatory that everyone is meant to stay at home and isolate themselves from public gathering and from the streets to protect themselves from contacting this deadly disease.
This disease has affected the lives of citizens, business and lifestyle of everyone. Businesses have shut down, prices of commodities have increased unexpectedly, cost of living is now on the high side and this has affected not just the poor or average citizens but also the well to do in the society.
There have been large amounts of donations from several individuals, companies and banks to assist the cause of finding a cure to this disease as well as for providing relief materials for people of this great nation.
And I wonder, instead of entrusting these funds to the government who is not able to give account for what is spent and what is left, what if these banks, using their database transfer these funds to the accounts of their average customers as a means of giving back to the society. Each bank credits their loyal customers, they receive their alerts and can individually go and withdraw these beneficiaries at their own convenience without queuing up and struggling unnecessarily, exposing them to same virus we are complaining about, and everyone goes home happy without blaming anyone for mismanagement of funds.
The churches on their own part have proved that religion is politics. These members devoted to God, and some to their pastors collect offerings and tithes but have refused to treat their neighbors as their selves. When it comes to harvest and donations, they have every record of their members, but in times like this refuse to cater for these members of theirs. Matthew 25: 31-40
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, "I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
Would it be wrong if they could squeeze a little from their reserves to provide food and healthcare service for this same members who attend services every Sunday and you teach and preach to them what you don't practice?
Rice yam and garri has increased in price, and some of these members, cannot afford even a square meal, while these pastors sit at home eating full chicken and juice, not thinking about the welfare of their brethren.
The government cannot fix everything for us, we have do what we can to help ourselves in times like this,
Change starts from you and I taking action. Let's learn to show love to one another irrespective of our colours, tribes, languages, and beliefs.
This world will be a better place if we can love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
If I may quote Wale Adenuga " we are just pencils in the hands of the creator ".
Let's love one another, united we stand and divided we fall.
