Actively working': Fabrizio Romano has dropped Chelsea transfer update.

With just two weeks left in the summer transfer window, Chelsea will be eager to apply the finishing touches to their squad.  The Blues have been busy in the market, with plenty of incomings and outgoings. But they’re not done yet.

On Sunday night, Fabrizio Romano took to YouTube with a transfer update, and spoke at length about Chelsea and their plans.

The transfer insider says the Blues are “already actively working” to bring in at least one more attacking player before the window shuts.

This is in wake of Christopher Nkunku’s knee injury that could keep him out for several months, according to football.london.

Chelsea are also sweating on the fitness of Carney Chukwuemeka, who was forced off against West Ham.

‘It’s important’.  As such, the Blues are already on the case as they look to bolster their attacking ranks further, Romano said.

“I can tell you that they are already actively working to bring in at least one more player in the offensive position, a creative player,” said Romano.

“We know Nkunku is injured, also Carney today (Sunday) had an injury, so it’s important for Chelsea to do something in that position to add one more player.”

Romano mentioned Chelsea’s failed pursuit of Michael Olise as well as their interest in Bradley Barcola and Jeremy Doku. The former is prioritising Paris Saint-Germain, while Manchester City are favourites for Doku, said the Italian. And as for Mohammed Kudus, that lead appears to be fizzling out, added Romano.

Nonetheless, Chelsea are working on it. Romano said: “For sure they will do something in that position after this injury situation.”

It’s good to hear Romano so sure about Chelsea’s pursuit of a new attacker before the window shuts. With injuries to Nkunku and Chukwuemeka, the Blues need to bolster their front line ranks further.

Romano did mention several active leads, but none of them seem particularly promising at present.

Nevertheless, Chelsea have struck several great deals after seemingly trailing in those races. No doubt the Blues will have more aces up their sleeve.

We have now entered the final 10 days of the 2023 summer transfer window and for Chelsea, it is set to be an extremely busy week-and-a-half.

The Blues have already brought in eight new signings, including multiple youth players, in a near-£350million spending spree this summer. Mauricio Pochettino, who has one point from his first two matches as Chelsea head coach, is still expecting at least a couple more signings before the window closes, football.london understands.

Meanwhile, there are still expected to be multiple departures in the final stages of the transfer window with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi looking to leave Stamford Bridge on permanent deals. There is perhaps scope for others to leave as well, with the futures of Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher remaining uncertain

Chelsea have lost to Manchester City on the race to sign Rennese forward Jeremy Doku, as well as also losing on Michael Olise.

There is speculation from elsewhere that Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun is someone the club is looking at, but it remains to be seen whether a move would be possible given the Gunners and the Blues' fierce rivalry.

Newcastle United have completed the loan signing of Lewis Hall from Chelsea. The 18-year-old Cobham graduate has moved to St. James' Park on a season-long loan but the deal includes an obligation to buy for the Magpies for around £35million.
